BAD Hair Days!

We all have them ladies. In this post I'll be giving tips and tricks on how to avoid them, an all around solution when you have them and DOs & Don'ts to prevent them from happening.

Working in a hair salon I come across all types of damaged hair and every client has the same question... Why?
Damage is caused by different things depending on the individual, there hair type and what he/she has or has not done to it.
  • Heat damage can cause breakage due to not taking the proper steps before applying heat (I.e. Heat Protection Product). Dry and/or Itchy scalps are not only annoying and cause flakes but is a key sign of a problem of some sort. A healthy scalp promotes healthy hair. Shampooing and deep conditioning are very important things to be done on a regular, depending on the person's hair type.
  • Styling your hair should be fun. Try not to over analyze every detail and always remember that What looks good on someone else may NOT look good on you. If all else fails a classic ponytail always works (Rubberbands are a 'No No" because it pulls the hair out). Knowing your face shape, complextion (when coloring) and hair type are critical when selecting a hair style.
  • Over processed hair from chemicals (Dye, Perm, Relaxer, Bleach etc.) show, and the results are never pretty. Bald spots, split ends, color change and longterm hair loss are just a few outcomes to avoid by keeping your hair in its natural state as long as possible.
  • Weaves have many pros and cons but if done correctlly, it will save a lot of time and headaches. Do not expect a big glamorous result from a $10 hair weave. You get what you pay for. When buying hair, you have to look at the type of hair (Remy, Indian, Human, Synthetic etc) and that should give you an idea of how long the hair will last, if or how much it sheds and if you can or can not style with heat, color or glue or sew it in. Those are all things to take into consideration before purchasing hair weave.

A woman's job is never done... even in her sleep

Maintain your hairstyle at night by wrapping it up, pin curling, rolling it with rollers or rods and if done correctly everything should still be in tact.
Remember if your ever unsure about anything to consult with a professional.
